Motoman Introduces New Slim SIA Series Robots

Motoman Robotics has launched their SIA series Robots, which include an actuator- based 7 axis design, which helps in wrist performance with greater freedom of movements. These robots could also maneuver and operate in confined and tight areas.

The SIA series is basically suitable for injection molding, assembly, machine tending along with other industrial solutions. Motion flexibility and short axis lengths give these manipulators room to position themselves outside the normal working area, without obstructing the motion range of any of the axes. The robots are mounted between the two machine tools and this offers an open access to the machines, so that any adjustments or fixture maintenance or testing could be carried out. This helps the operator to get a clear access to the machine operator station for performing maintenance tasks and entering offsets or such similar tasks.

The Motoman Robotics DX100 controller controls the robots and it uses patented multi-robot control technology, which allows it to handle multiple jobs such as controlling the I/O devices, controlling eight robots i.e. a total of 72 axes and also the communication protocols. The DX100 controller utilizes a Windows CE Programming pendant, which includes a color touch screen.
