Rockwell Automation Releases RSLogix 5000 Software for Manufacturers and Machine Builders

Rockwell Automation, a company specializing in industrial automation and information, has released new software called RSLogix 5000 for machine builders and manufacturers who require a compact control system.

The software provides the elevated performance of an integrated control device and has motion capabilities on the IP/EtherNet network to the Allen-Bradley CompactLogix controller series. The combination of RSLogix 5000 v20 software and appropriate control system components enables users to upgrade from 200 to 10,000 I/O points via a single control platform.

Rockwell Automation’s Director, Mike Burrows stated that majority of manufacturers and machine builders have to utilize numerous control platforms to meet their varied requirements, which in turn generate complexity as each platform features a special user interface, design environment and vendor support model. Innovative end users and machine builders require a single-control infrastructure that effortlessly upgrades to match application needs.

The RSLogix 5000 v20 software creates an intuitive design environment for the Rockwell Automation Integrated Architecture system. This includes Allen-Bradley GuardLogix 5570 Series programmable automation controllers, CompactLogix 5370 Series of programmable automation controllers, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, Bulletin 1734 POINT Guard I/O Analog Input Module and Allen-Bradley Kinetix 350 servo drive on EtherNet/IP. These choices offer ideal alternatives for applications, while latest components reduce the expenditure to set up integrated motion on IP/EtherNet in a broader range of machine applications.

The RSLogix 5000 v20 software, apart from new hardware support, offers an affordable integration technique by utilizing a text-file-based electronic data sheet, which accelerates application development, offers more product choices for IP/EtherNet users, generates more maintainable applications and simplifies device replacement. In addition, an improved open-socket interface allows integration into other types of products. The RSLogix 5000 v20 software can span numerous networks with unicast I/O for floating point capabilities, security-related applications and a range of ladder logic instructions for each safety task.
