National Technical Systems, a provider of engineering and testing services, has declared that it will display its unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) payload POD at the future North America conference from August 6 to 9 in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

The AUVSI North America is held once every year and attracts a large number of manufacturers, and is popularly known as the most highly attended UAV conference.

The UAV Payload POD from NTS was unveiled in June. This UAV is shadow-class, light weight, multi-payload, multi-mission with weight below 5 lbs and will support a 25 lbs payload capacity for each wing of the AAI Shadow UAV.

According to the NTS Market Director, Aerospace, Michael Mindt, this POD has attracted interest from a large number of vendors symbolizing the design and engineering capabilities that NTS can provide. Mindt added that the company offers an end-to-end UAV service implying that it can integrate and design a payload, help in building a UAV, testing a UAV and flying missions if a client requires the same. He also said that the company can develop PODs based on the client’s requirement.

Mindt added that a major design element of the NTS Payload POD is that it has radiofrequency transparency at the shell’s bottom half enabling the mounting of radio antennas inside which both protects them and aids in aerodynamics. A POD is actually an empty shell that holds a payload on the UAV.

NTS will be exhibiting at Booth # 3710 at the AUVSI conference.
