Grand Forks International Airport (GFK) has received a funding of $600,000 from The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for developing an innovative Inline luggage managing system ensuring safety at airports. The new Airport terminal is expected to open in 2011.
John Hursey, TSA North Dakota Federal Security Director stated that these In-line baggage handling systems use modern technology to monitor baggage quickly and effectively. Every year, more than one million travelers use Grand Forks International Airport and it is expected that this project will assist the airport authorities in thorough inline checking. The award amount will be utilized by the management for creating the inline luggage screening system which will be integrated in the new passenger terminal at the airport.
According to Rick Audette, Operations & Maintenance Manager, Grand Forks Regional Airport Authority, their collaboration with TSA will lead to enhanced customer satisfaction and effective airport protection.
