Hang w/announced today that Google Lunar X PRIZE Competitor, Team Synergy Moon, will use the live-streaming video social media platform to bring viewers along on their journey to soft-land a planetary rover on the Moon.
Hang w/ is a live streaming video platform that allows anyone with an iPhone, iPad or Android device to broadcast live video - and it enables viewers to watch and engage via live chat from their iPhone, iPad, Android Device or via the web. Users follow other users who interest them, and the system sends a notification every time someone in a user's "following" network goes live.
Synergy Moon is an eccentric, electrifying merge of the arts and sciences, representing a collaboration of individuals from more than 15 countries. Synergy Moon's technological innovations aim to make manned space travel, personal satellite launches, and Solar System exploration cost-effective, and possible for everyone. Through aerospace research and development, rocket launch services, and a wide range of public events and awareness campaigns, they aim to inspire and invigorate humanity's desire to explore the Moon, Mars, and space beyond.
The $30 million Google Lunar X PRIZE is an unprecedented international competition that challenges and inspires engineers and entrepreneurs from around the world to develop low-cost methods of robotic space exploration. To win the Grand Prize, a privately funded team must successfully place a robot on the Moon's surface that explores at least 500 meters, and transmits high definition video and images back to the Earth. The Google Lunar X PRIZE is available to be claimed until the end of the year 2015.
