LoRaWAN mDot Module Remotely Monitors Multitech-Stream IoT-x Activated Building Automation Application

Stream Technologies, a global leader in connectivity solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced it will work collaboratively with MultiTech, a leading global manufacturer of M2M and IoT infrastructure.

Integrating the Stream IoT-X™ LoRaWAN enabled environment with the MultiTech best-of-breed IoT mobility platform, this partnership provides Network Operators and enterprises the ability to distribute intelligence to the very edge of their network to monitor, manage and monetize all of their LoRa connected assets. Providing visibility and control of the gateway and beyond to the remotely attached sensors and appliances enables commercialization of both secure private and public network deployments.

The IoT-X environment offers fully featured subscriber management and provisioning, robust billing and rating engines capable of serving multi-tiered and multi-tenant channels, as well as advanced data routing capabilities. It can manage the connectivity of any device regardless of network type, providing a single, unified view of every relevant connection, whether it be satellite, cellular, Wi-Fi, short-range or LoRa LPWAN. All IoT-X customers can utilize these different connectivity options which are already integrated to provide a comprehensive wireless IoT network from the sensor to the application. IoT-X and Stream Technologies’ unique IoT-Xlerate™ ecosystem help global enterprises and Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) reduce time to market by enabling quick, easy deployment of products and solutions which have been pre-tested and proven on the Stream network.

Existing IoT-X customers will now be able to add MultiTech LoRaWAN products to their networks, providing secure, bidirectional, end-to-end connectivity and extending the operating life of connected devices, saving customers significant time and money when deploying IoT applications. The LoRa technology solves the traditional design compromise between range, in-building penetration, interference immunity, and energy consumption.

“MultiTech is committed to delivering a simple to deploy and quick to scale network capable of securely connecting an enterprises assets and improving its business processes and efficiencies”, said Daniel Quant, Vice President of Product Management at MultiTech Systems. “The IoT-X™ platform provides activation, provisioning and data routing of those individual assets no matter what technology connects them, providing enterprises a single platform that simplifies management of their network connectivity.”

Together Multitech’s mDot and Stream’s IoT-x activate a Building Automation application whereby temperature and a user controlled set point are remotely monitored using a LoRaWAN mDot module and analyzed locally within the MultiTech Conduit Gateway using an IBM Node-RED custom application. When the temperature exceeds the set point, a cooling fan connected to a second mDot is activated. The temperature and set point sensor data and fan activity status are sent to Stream IoT-X™ providing a common platform to manage and route the data to Solair visualization in a PC or mobile Web browser.

“MultiTech are driving IoT forward with their LoRaWAN mDot modules and Conduit gateway products. Working together to simplify the complex IoT value chain within the LoRa Alliance open eco-system will ensure faster, viable carrier grade deployments that can tangibly scale and commercialize many IoT use cases,” said Tracy Hopkins, Senior Vice President of Low Power Networks for Stream Technologies.

MultiConnect® Conduit™ is the industry’s most configurable, manageable, and scalable communications gateway, ideal for numerous market segments including Agricultural, Industrial, Medical, and Smart Cities. Simple to deploy and easy to configure, the Conduit gateway provides connectivity to a customer's preferred data management platform and to its assets with the ability to manage thousands of MultiConnect mDot™ modules, inexpensive radios using the new Semtech LoRaWAN low power, wide area RF open protocol. mDots bring intelligence and reduced complexity to the very edge of the network by running ARM® mbed™ platform on a low power ARM® Cortex®-M series processor.
