GeckoSystems to Propagate Usage of Robotic Wheelchairs

Published on December 1, 2011 at 2:10 AM

By Andy Choi

GeckoSystems signs a joint venture with Nanle Electric Wheelchair, a Chinese Company for popularising the usage of mobile robotic technology in wheelchairs.

CareBot

Both the companies will be working towards making ‘Mobile Robot Solutions for safety, security and service’ popular with the collision free wheelchair technology using mobile robots. Through the joint venture GeckoSystems will be able to gain popularity across the world by penetrating into the healthcare, security and government applications.

Importance will be given to the mechanical design aspects of the wheelchair and incorporate advanced artificial intelligence techniques for improved navigation. Under the agreement, the companies have mutually agreed to keep the core technological information pertaining to the wheelchair design confidential. The Chinese government has purchased new land for constructing the new factory for the manufacture of these wheelchairs. There is an acute rise in the demand for collision proof wheelchairs with advanced AI navigation systems in the Chinese market. The joint venture is a part of the strategy of the People’s Republic of China formed in 2009 for improving healthcare systems to achieve universal healthcare by the year 2020. Among the various schemes under this plan is the plan to provide greater mobility for the disabled in China.
