AgSense Receives Patent for Remote Precision Irrigation Management System

AgSense received a patent for its remote irrigation management system. AgSense enjoys the distinction of being the first to incorporate web based GPS technology in its system for controlling a pivot remotely and to program the speed of the gun tables.

Field Commander

Terry Schlitz, the president of AgSense claimed that their technology was useful for farmers to upgrade the equipment currently in use by implementing the Remote Precision Irrigation system.

This innovative patented technology was part of the Field Commander irrigation system from Agsense, which provides the farmers with wireless remote monitoring facility over all irrigation pivots. One of the farmers provided a positive feedback of the system by saying that he was able to standardise all the pivots used in his farm with the new technology which led to huge savings of time and effort. The patent covers the use of GPS technology for tracking the location of pivots and to run them at varying speeds. Schiltz mentioned that the most important advantage that farmers receive from this technology is easy implementation of their irrigation decisions on agronomic program of their choice. He added that implementations that consumed many hours can be done with the help of the new technology within minutes using web technology. The Field Commander system communicates with the help of the digital cell network and works along with the WAGNET software from Agsense and facilitates real time management of historical data.
