US Army Awards Contract to iRobot for Supplying Packbot Robots and Spare Parts

iRobot has been awarded an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract worth 60 million dollars spanning five years by the Robotic Systems Joint Program Office (RSJPO) of the US Army.

The Army’s Contracting Command located in Warren, Michigan is the awarding authority of the contract. According to the terms of the contract, the Army will have the right to procure PackBot robots and their spare parts from iRobot. iRobot will also have to provide service and upgrades for all the support services of the US military requirements like the Foreign Military Sales (FMS). iRobot has a proven expertise in supplying combat-proven government and industrial robots to a number of countries.

Robert Moses who leads the Government and Industrial Robots Division of iRobot mentioned that by fulfilling the FMS contracts with international customers, iRobot has been successful in providing a supply of life-saving robots that can be employed on a number of missions. He added that the PackBot contract with the US Army will be useful in saving the lives of soldiers on the battlefield. The allies of the army and other coalition partners across the world will also be benefited by the contract. The PackBots have so far helped more than 4,000 warfighters by taking on bomb disposal, surveillance, reconnaissance and other critical risky missions.
