iRobot 710 Warrior and two iRobot 510 PackBot robots have been presented to Progress Energy. Warrior is a robust and rugged robot, capable of lifting up to 220 lb, can carry payloads with over 150 lb weight. PackBot is a tactical mobile robot with modular, adaptable and expandable capabilities performing multiple missions with assured protection to the operator.

iRobot’s Military Robots business unit’s interim general manager, Tim Trainer says that the unmanned ground vehicles of iRobot have been tested and validated to be used as effective rugged tools in multiple missions. Robots minimize the risk of operation in radioactive environments. With its cost-effective and effective operation capabilities, iRobot has expanded its presence in military market.

Warrior and PackBot are being used extensively at Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. iRobot delivered two Warrior and two PackBot robots to the Japan that was devastated by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. iRobot also offered training for the operators. These robots have been used regularly in those affected areas to remove debris and have been deployed to measure radiation levels at the plant.

iRobot’s consumer and military robots feature iRobot Aware robot intelligence systems, and proprietary technology that integrates updated versions in artificial intelligence, navigation, mobility, and manipulation.
