Strategic Agreement Signed for LEAP's Proprietary Robotic Equipment

Published on May 9, 2012 at 4:18 AM

By Nick Gilbert

Pressure BioSciences and LEAP Technologies jointly declared that they have entered a strategic agreement such as co-development, co-selling and co-marketing. As per the Agreement, a sample preparation system will be developed by incorporating LEAP's proprietary robotics and lab automation equipment with the patented pressure cycling technology ("PCT") platform of PBI.

Both the companies have a common industrial focus in mass spectrometry and proteomics sample preparation. Also, by integrating the significant features from both technology platforms, the companies can formulate a powerful sample preparation system that has high-efficiency.

Proteomics refers to exploring the structure and function of proteins. Over the years, the interest in proteomics has increased among the researchers. Recent studies represent major approaches to human health. These innovative insights will contribute to more improved diagnosis, prognosis, prevention, control, and treatment of diverse diseases and clinical scenarios. Most of the proteomic research studies rely on high-quality sample preparation. The accuracy and efficiency of laboratory testing will ultimately be enhanced by automated sample preparation methods. This improvement will further lead to increase in the potential of discovery that will enable preparation of new vaccines, diagnostics and therapeutics.

PBI’s President and CEO, Mr. Richard T. Schumacher says that this unique partnership with LEAP, which is a renowned robotics and lab Automation Company will give rise to more improved sample preparation techniques. Building on the existing knowledge in the mass spectrometry sample preparation area, PBI uses LEAP's proprietary equipment and software to incorporate PCT into an automated workflow to have a more established position in the mass spectrometry division. Collaboration will ensure increased revenue for both PBI and LEAP in 2012, and in the future.
