Kratos Defense and Security Solutions, a supplier of National Security Solutions recently declared that it is one among the two companies that General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI) chose for MQ-1C Gray Eagle Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Composite Maintenance System Trainer (CMST) Program’s Phase 1 development.

This Phase 1 development initiative of Kratos includes preliminary and architecture design for a wide range of maintenance training systems and development of general support items for the MQ-1C Gray Eagle CMST.

The GA-ASI MQ-1C Gray Eagle is a Medium Altitude Endurance UAS that has entered the final stages of System Design and Development (SDD) on behalf of the U.S. Army. Afghanistan is now implementing this system. This novel platform can be effectively used for attacking enemy positions without detection, in addition to ensuring efficiency in Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR). With an operating range of 1,200 km and carrying 800 lb payload, this innovative system ensures efficient operation up to 24 hours at altitude as high as 29,000 ft.

Kratos Simulation and Training Systems’ VP, Jose Diaz says that following the progression of the Department of Defense for further UAS-focused missions, there will be increasing need for expertise maintenance professionals for vehicles to achieve the maximum level of mission success. Kratos is a well-established industry for designing and developing next-generation maintenance training systems compatible with military aviation platforms such as the CH-47F Chinook helicopters and UH-60M Black Hawk. Integrating its long-term expertise, the company anticipates bringing further developments to this emerging market.
