Hansen Medical has recently declared that it is will showcase its Magellan Robotic System from June 7 to 9 at the 2012 Vascular Annual Meeting of the Society for Vascular Surgery, taking place at Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, MD.

The company will start its initial launch operations for its Magellan Robotic System across the U.S. at once, following the achievement of FDA’s 510(k) clearance for the system, including the catheter and accessories.

The Magellan Robotic System has been created to provide improved and easy catheter navigation. In addition, it ensures better therapeutic intervention through peripheral vasculature cases. The Magellan Robotic System brings a new standard for peripheral vascular intervention. It is capable of enabling precise distal tip control, revolutionary lesion access, consistent procedural efficiency and solid catheter stability.

According to the President and CEO of Hansen Medical, Bruce Barclay, the company’s innovative Magellan Robotic System will be exhibited to a large number of vascular surgeons and physicians at the 2012 annual meeting. Using this robotic system and robotic catheter, physicians can better navigate the vasculature. The system provides maximum control and versatility via robotic manipulation of a standard guidewire leveraged from a centralized, remote workstation and also through distal tip control of a catheter and a sheath. This proprietary technology is capable of potential catheter navigation of peripheral vessels.

The Magellan Robotic System will be showcased and demonstrated at the 2012 annual meeting. Product demonstrations of the Magellan Robotic System will be hosted by Jean Bismuth, M.D., of the DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center, Methodist Hospital.
