With the unveiling of a new angular gripper called the PWG-plus, SCHUNK has expanded its line of universal gripping modules. The predecessors of the newly-launched PWG-plus include the small parts gripper MPG-plus, the centric gripper PZN-plus, and the parallel gripper PGN-plus. SCHUNK’s PWG-plus is highly compact, contributing to multiple options for a wide range of application in all environments.

PWG-plus Powerful Angular Gripper

This high-performance gripper serves as a powerful and dynamic source of power as it consists of double oval piston drive, practically wear-free lever mechanism, and the one-piece, high-strength aluminum housing. It can be coupled with or without mechanical gripping force maintenance, based on the application. Furthermore, extensive accessories such as magnetic switches and inductive sensors are being provided.

SCHUNK’s angular gripper can be adapted to an extensive array of standard grippers made up over 10,000 components. On the basal as well as the finger side, the angular gripper is being coupled to a connecting pattern similar to that of the PGN-plus universal gripper. This integration enables simple access to quick-change jaw systems or compensation units and valves.

The PWG-plus is being offered in three size configurations for workpiece weights from 0.5 to 7.3 kg. Addition technical specifications encompasses a stroke per finger of 15°, gripping moments between 3.5 and 143 Nm, and a travel tension angle per jaw of 3°.

The gripper ensures effective applications in clean as well as slightly dirty environments. It is ideal for handling crankshafts and camshafts, and used extensively for gantry loading of interlinked machining centers.
