Geekend Checks Out Advances in Robotics

We are getting so good at making robots that we'll probably quit making humans soon. Robots are faster than us, they're stronger than us, and they're smart enough to beat us at every game we've ever invented. They can even paint pictures and sing. It is getting to the point where we need to ask — can a human do anything better than a robot?

In this latest installment of the Geekend series, author David Wagner uses a hypothetical and comical fight between a robot and an average human to see just how far the state of the art in robotics has advanced. Even though robots are advancing fast in all areas, humans still have an advantage in a few areas. Are they enough for humans to win? You'll have to click the link to find out.

Each week, Wagner takes a look at a variety of scientific studies that look at the convergence of technology and human behavior to see how we're changing our world and how the world we built is changing us. This week, he's checking out robots to see how soon they'll rule the world.

Want a ringside seat for the smackdown? Check out this week's Geekend, and see for yourself.
