FIS 2014: TRU-D SmartUVC to Highlight Superbug-Killing UVC Automated Disinfection Robot

TRU-D SmartUVC LLC and its UK partners, Rapid Disinfection Services Ltd., will feature their superbug-killing UVC automated disinfection robot, TRU-D SmartUVC, at FIS 2014 in Harrogate, England, this week from Nov. 23 to 26 at Stand 23.

The conference, hosted by Federation of Infection Societies, is the United Kingdom's largest infection-related event of its kind and brings together more than 15 infection prevention societies to one of the leading events of its type throughout the world. This annual event is centered on innovation in the fields of infection prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Leadership from the TRU-D SmartUVC team will be in attendance and available to discuss the critical need for UVC disinfection technology in health care settings at the meeting's exhibit hall Nov. 24 to 26.

"As the spread of infectious disease continues through globalization, health care providers around the world must be assiduous in how they prepare to keep their patients on the road to recovery," said Chuck Dunn, president of TRU-D SmartUVC LLC. "Innovative technologies, like TRU-D, that accurately measure UVC dose and have been proven by multiple third-party studies to be more than 99 percent effective in combatting deadly pathogens, will become even more necessary to combat infection outbreaks as organisms mutate and new strains are identified."

Choosing a superior UVC disinfection system has become much easier through diligent research provided by a group of leading microbiologists and infection prevention specialists at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. In a study published in the Journal of Hospital Infection in 2013, TRU-D SmartUVC's ability to eradicate VRE resulted in better than 99.5 percent reduction of VRE in the farthest hidden reaches of the room from a single placement with a measured dose of germicidal UVC. In contrast, the same group trialed a xenon pulse device and published "First UK trial of Xenex PX-UV room decontamination device" at the Infection Prevention 2014 conference in Glasgow, Scotland. This study concluded that the xenon strobe light resulted in only a 38 percent reduction in VRE. These comparisons show TRU-D's ability to measure a pathogen-lethal dose results in a level of disinfection three times greater than the xenon pulse system.

TRU-D's technology utilizes UV bulbs endorsed by the EPA and the U.S. Department of Energy and are guaranteed to deliver the most powerful and efficient germicidal UVC to protect patients and health care staff. TRU-D is the only portable UVC disinfection system on the market with Sensor360 technology. This technology automatically calculates the time needed to react to room variables – such as size, geometry, surface reflectivity and the amount and location of equipment in the room – and effectively delivers a lethal UVC dose in both line-of-site and shadowed spaces from a single, central location in the room. In addition, TRU-D users are able to collect usage efficiency analytics through the robot's customized, secure cloud-based data tracking system that records and reports operational data.

TRU-D SmartUVC is the device of choice for nearly all of the existing independent research on UV disinfection technology. Hundreds of TRU-Ds have been deployed to disinfect hospitals across the U.S., Canada, Europe and Africa. For information and links to independent studies specific to TRU-D.
