Minnesota Ambulatory Surgery Center Performs CT-Free Robotics-Assisted Partial Knee Replacement

Blue Belt Technologies, a medical device company specializing in solutions for orthopedic surgery, announces the first ambulatory surgery center in Minnesota to perform a CT-free robotics-assisted partial knee replacement. The case was performed by Dr. Eric Green at St. Cloud Surgical Center in St. Cloud, Minnesota, utilizing the Navio®Surgical System.

The Navio system represents the latest in robotics-assisted techniques for partial knee replacement procedures. Through CT-free navigation and handheld robotics, Navio enables the surgeon to create a surgical plan based on patient anatomy and brings a high degree of implant placement accuracy. The Navio systems open implant software supports 7 different knee systems to provide access to robotics-assistance for a wide surgical audience.

“Using the Navio system allows me to visualize my patient’s x-ray before I even begin to remove bone,” said Dr. Green. “Robotics-assisted smart instrumentation like Navio allows us to very precisely resurface our patient’s knees for partial knee replacements. This should lead to improved outcomes for my patients.”

“As a Minnesota based company, we’re proud to support Dr. Green, St. Cloud Surgical Center, and to be a part of the state’s first CT-free robotics-assisted partial knee replacement performed in an ambulatory surgery center,” said Eric Timko, President and CEO of Blue Belt Technologies. “Blue Belt remains focused on providing advanced treatment options for patients who suffer from early to mid-stage osteoarthritis, and we’re excited that a CT-free robotics-assisted option is now available to our local community.”
