Robotic surgery or robot-assisted surgery is an MIS procedure that utilizes very small tools attached to a robotic arm to perform the surgery. Robot-assisted surgery offers broader visualization of the operating area and precision control of surgical instruments. In a robotic surgery procedure, a surgeon visualizes the operative field with the help of video monitor and uses a console to control the robotics arms, which performs the procedure. The main aim of robotic surgery is to reduce patients stay in hospital by reducing the pain and scarring associated with surgery to facilitate faster recovery.
