Teledyne DALSA Introduces Camera Link HS-Compatible CMOS TDI Line Scan Cameras and CLHS Frame Grabbers

Teledyne DALSA, a Teledyne Technologies company and a global leader in machine vision, announced today the availability of its Camera Link HS™-compatible Piranha XL CMOS TDI line scan cameras and Xtium CLHS frame grabbers, signaling the introduction of one of the most powerful product combinations in the industry to take advantage of the AIA’s Camera Link HS interface standard.

High speed multi-line Piranha™ XL pairing with Xtium™ CLHS frame grabber represents industry first.

With the CLHS interface, Piranha XL16k monochrome cameras offer the latest in multi-line CMOS TDI technology, delivering unprecedented speed and responsivity with low noise in a compact design.  Employing Teledyne DALSA's most advanced CMOS sensor architecture, the cameras deliver up to 125 kHz line rate, with incredible responsivity and exposure control, while maintaining low noise. The Piranha XL 16k camera delivers up to 2 GByte/sec data throughput with a single CX4 cable.

The Xtium-CLHS PX4 and PX8 are PCIe Gen 2 frame grabbers built for high-speed, high-bandwidth cameras and combine reliability and performance with up to 7 data lanes to capture aggregate data rates of 2.1GB/s and sustained host transfer bandwidth of over 3.2GB/s (using Xtium-CLHS PX8). Fully supported by Sapera LT software, these highly reliable and robust frame grabbers are both cost-effective and easy to integrate. The Xtium CLHS frame grabbers feature seamless multi-board synchronization and built-in capability to re-distribute incoming images at maximum camera speeds to as many as 6 additional frame grabbers enabling distributed image processing across multiple computers.

“Built around our proprietary CMOS TDI technology, this latest high speed camera is unstoppable when combined with our CLHS frame grabbers,” commented Mark Butler, Product Marketing Manager with Teledyne DALSA. “This combination has exceeded performance expectations for light-starved applications where sensitivity, resolution and high speed image capture and transfer are critical.”

Both products target machine vision OEM and are ideal for integration into flat panel, electronics, and semiconductor inspection, as well as other machine vision applications. The Piranha XL multi-line camera and Xtium-CLHS frame grabber are designed to help reduce inspection and manufacturing costs and enable the reliable transfer of information at high speeds without compromise.
