ABB Launches IRB 2600ID Robot

ABB has released IRB 2600ID robot, the latest addition to IRB 2600 family. The industrial robot features a reach of 2m and 8kg of payload capacity. Its large working envelope, Integrated Dressing (ID) technology, high payload capacity enable the integration of arc welding hose package in the wrist and upper arm of the robot.

Per Lowgren, Product Manager of ABB has stated that integrating the process equipment with the robot is the latest trend in the design of industrial robot. He mentioned that such an industrial robot enhances productivity and reduces operational cost overhead. He added that since the motion of wires and hoses is completely predictable, the programming duration is minimized by around 90%.

The IRB 2600ID robot features thin wrist and arm, enabling it to reach even constricted spaces. According to Lowgren, the robot can effectively perform tough tasks like circular welding.

The footprint of the robot is very small. Its swing base radius measures 337 mm with a base width of 511 mm. It does not include loose cables and hoses. It also features reduced interference risk with other industrial robots. It enables successful combination with 50% additional robots and an increased productivity of 50% from a production cell.

The robot facilitates 75% reduction of procurement and exchange costs and can avoid up to three production stops. All cables and hoses of the robot are protected effectively and they swing less during functioning.  Also cables experience minimum wear and less contact to weld spray, thereby increasing their lifespan.

The IRB 2600ID robot can be availed along with ABB’s IRC5 Robot Controller and is completely backed by ABB global sales and service groups distributed in 53 nations.
