ABB Collaborates with Robotic Arts to Develop Robotic Technology

Robotic Arts will collaborate with ABB Robotics, a supplier of industrial robots, to help develop advanced robotic systems for the commercial, retail and entertainment markets.

Under the terms of the collaboration, several robotic systems that are currently under development for sports bars, home theaters, concert and event entertainment, and interactive point-of-purchase advertising will be released soon.

The RoboScreen technology, developed by Flessas in 2010, played a vital role in the success of the Bon Jovi Circle Tour. Currently, five RoboScreens are functioning on the Bon Jovi Live 2011 tour. RoboScreen that attaches to the arm of an ABB industrial robot delivers a unique viewer experience and controlled visual movements. In addition, RoboScreens are capable of showing real time videos and animations and adapt to various formations even on elevated stages.

Flessas aims to develop alternative uses for RoboScreens in the entertainment and commercial retail markets. RoboScreens will help in improving the event experience when placed outside the performance venues for the purpose of marketing. It can also be placed inside an event venue to provide replays. RoboScreens can also be used in the retail sector for the purpose of advertising and for providing in-store information to clients.
