Celestica, a Toronto based firm, will acquire Brookes Automation’s semiconductor equipment to amplify its capabilities in systems integration and complex mechanical services.
The operations, located in Wuxi in China and Portland in Oregon, focuses on the manufacture of complex mechanical machinery and offer systems integration services for several top semiconductor equipment producers in the world. The operations develop equipment for transportation and wafer handling systems, sub systems for semiconductor capital equipment OEMs and vacuum transfer modules.
According to Paul Nicoletti, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in Celestica, acquiring the Brooks operations would definitely add a fillip to Celestica’s industrial market share, as its customers would also benefit by the added capability in systems integration and complex mechanical services. Celestica’s global capabilities would be benefited by the addition of designing, technical depth and engineering of these operations and also by its expert capital equipment supplier management skills.
