LRAD Receives Order for LRAD-RX Systems for Remote Security of Oil Platforms

LRAD revealed that they have received an order for delivering LRAD-RX systems which will be used in providing remote security at multiple offshore platforms.

The LRAD-RX systems are essentially high power spotlights which are remotely operated. They consist of sensors and are used to alert fishermen and birds from unmanned platforms. These systems are also used to monitor likely security threats on offshore platforms. The divers who work on oil rigs will be protected from the danger of fishing trawlers who penetrate into the security zones on the platforms. LRAD plans to have the order ready for shipping during this quarter of the year.

The LRAD-RX systems incorporate LRAD’s proprietary IP-addressable full pan tilt and drive, which provides accurate timing and tracking. The standoff zones are broadcast by the system with the help of powerful voice commands and stern tones that are clearly audible and easily understandable over distances up to 3 km. Tom Brown, the president and CEO of LRAD, claimed that the LRAD-RX systems were effective in assisting oil and gas companies in issuing deterrent and audible security threats to warn personnel and wildlife from entering into unmanned platforms. He added that these platforms have been extensively deployed along the coast of Australia, Gulf of Mexico and Bay of Bengal. He regarded protection of oil and gas resources and facilities as an emerging market for the LRAD-RX systems.
