Numotion, the country’s top provider of complex rehab technology (CRT), announced that they will be the distributor of Tek Robotic Mobilization Device (RMD) by Matia Robotics in the United States.

Tek RMD is a motorized standing movement device that is designed to provide the ability for people who are in a manual wheelchair to complete daily activities from a standing position. Compared to other standers, users can board and control the Tek RMD without any assistance. Numotion has become the exclusive U.S. distributor of this product.

Tek RMD is a life-enhancing technology that enables wheelchair users to participate in everyday life in a way they may have previously thought was not possible. The ability to independently and safely sit, stand and navigate environments that were once inaccessible is now a reality. This latest exclusive distributorship of the U.S. market is reflective of our market leadership position and how we’re the channel of choice for new and innovative break-through technologies.

The Tek RMD can be boarded by users from the back without any help from others, providing the user with greater independence. Upon boarding, the suspension system, which contains a gas spring mechanism, balances the weight of the user, requiring just a gentle pull to get into a standing position.

While standing, a joystick control helps the user to take his/her own direction of movement. A remote control feature also enables the user to send away the device and call it back when required.

Wheelchair users will get huge benefits from standing. The Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA), has reported that standing five times per week can help enhance bone density, digestion, bladder and bowel function, circulation, and respiratory function. Also, the ability to stand can improve psychological well-being and self-esteem.

Numotion has a passion for helping people with disabilities to live active lives and contribute to society. We have already seen the difference the Tek RMD can make in the lives of wheelchair users. We are excited to partner with Numotion and their extensive experience and reach in the industry to offer this innovative solution to more people.

The Tek RMD is compact and measures only 16.5” in width by 29.5” in length, making it easily maneuverable through doorways that can frequently be tricky in other chairs. A turning radius of 23.6” facilitates smooth transition of direction. Extra technical specifications, and a video that illustrates how the device operates, can be viewed at https://www.shopnumotion.com/tek-tech.

In the U.S., the Tek RMD can be purchased only from Numotion, either through a client’s current Assistive Technology Professional, or online at ShopNumotion.com. Visitors to the website will be asked to schedule an assessment for individually configured customization.

Numotion is the country’s top mobility equipment and services provider for people with disabilities, especially for those who need Complex Rehab Technology (CRT). Annually, Numotion serves 250,000 customers through their locations in almost every state. The company’s primary service is using their technical and clinical expertise to help people with disabilities become active and independent members in their own communities.
