Smart Epidemic Prevention and Control Robots Help Fight COVID-19 Outbreak

Cheetah Mobile ("Cheetah Mobile" or the "Company"), a leading AI-driven industrial internet company with global market coverage, today announced in collaboration with OrionStar, an intelligent service robot company that it has invested in, key success metrics from the large scale deployment of its multifunctional robots, Smart Epidemic Prevention and Control Robots, in over 30 hospitals, transportation centers and shopping malls in the city of Wuhan, Hubei province in China, the epicenter of the pandemic, as well as to Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Zhengzhou, Qingdao, to help fight the COVID-19 outbreak.

Three types of the Smart Epidemic Prevention and Control Robots are equipped with Orion Star Robot OS. Smart GreetBot guides the way for patients, does remote ward rounds, fever pre-diagnosis; Smart ThermoBot conducts no-contact temperature measurement, mask detection and alert system, telepresence option for safe communication; and Smart DeliverBot, does medication, test report, medical waste delivery, in addition to several other functions using natural voice communication, facial recognition and hospital navigation.

The robots also help guide preliminary diagnosis and treatment, primary disclosure of medical information and fixed-point delivery of medical supplies. The epidemic prevention and control program aims to reduce the workload of medical staff and reduce the risk of cross-infection.

Hospital medical staff are using the robots to help them communicate and perform routine examinations remotely. Given the highly infectious nature of the disease, as well as the importance of keeping medical staff protected, the robots are able to provide much needed help to doctors and nurses as they continue their important work while minimizing their exposure to COVID-19.

The robots have been deployed to hospitals including Peking University Shougang Hospital, Beijing Haidian Hospital, Wuhan Vulcan Mountain Hospital, and Zhengzhou's Xiaotangshan Hospital.
