World Surveillance Group Files U.S. Patent Application for Airship Design

World Surveillance Group, innovator of lighter-than-air ("LTA") unmanned aerial vehicles ("UAVs"), recently declared that a U.S. patent application has been filed by the company for an airship design and a mode of controlling the airship depending on its Argus One UAV.

The filing of the U.S. patent application will safeguard WSGI’s intellectual property in its exceptional airship design, which is the basis of UAV research and development program of the company. In addition to development and delivery of its mid-altitude Argus One airship, the company focuses on enlarging its airship design to further produce advanced UAVs with higher altitudes, durability, and payload capacities. As a result, the company developed Stratellite, which is a long endurance airship ideal for lower stratosphere operation.

The U.S. patent application is filed for an LTA unmanned, autonomous airship with aerodynamic and automated control. The unique design includes the ability to pivot as well as to control the rigidity between each module. Microcontrollers relying on aerodynamic specifications operate the modules. Furthermore, a system of ballonets located inside each module, leverage the flight control, absolute response and handling characteristics and the airship's altitude, thereby resulting in a versatile airship.

World Surveillance Group is known for its expertise in designing, development and commercialization of autonomous, lighter-than-air UAVs that can transfer payloads and wireless communications solutions at any altitude, thereby enabling consistent security. Its wide-spread applications include government-based and commercial industries entailing surveillance and reconnaissance, and various communications, and real-time intelligence.
