Energid’s Version 3.0 Software Toolkit Enables Dynamic Robotic Systems

Energid Technologies has launched a new upgrade, version 3.0 of its Actin software toolkit. Actin presents roboticists with innovative digital simulation and next-generation control tools.

With the rapid development of novel software and computer algorithms, the economic impact and potential of robots have been increasing, which is represented by Energid's Actin toolkit.

Actin enables roboticists to fabricate complex robots based on computer aided design (CAD) programs, which is followed by the formulation of powerful control strategies and to implement the design’s operation and control system in a suitable environment. In addition, Actin expedites the iterations in the robot’s design.

The new version 3.0 features grasping and manipulation scripting, acceleration filtering and profiling, Graphical User Interface (GUI) design tools integrated with plugin support, advanced configuration using intermediary tools, tipping control for mobile robots, rapid algorithms for simulation and control, versatile techniques for dynamic collision avoidance, and several new interface devices and actuator types.

The Principal Software Engineer at Energid, James Bacon says that Actin and CAD software are closely related, and their coupling has further been enhanced by Energid through its Solution Partnership with SolidWorks.

Actin leverages robotics applications and enables the dynamic operation of robotic systems such as planetary exploration, oil drilling and various medical applications. The 3.0 upgrade will activate Actin by augmenting its operation tasks, which will lead to an increase in the potential for software applications and a reduced time to market.
