Accuray Delivers Second CyberKnife Robot to KCCH

Accuray has declared that Korea Cancer Care Hospital (KCCH) has incorporated its second CyberKnife robotic system for cancer treatment, and has become the first Medical center in South Korea to include two CyberKnife Radiosurgery robots in cancer treatment.

The newly procured CyberKnife system is placed at the Asia Cancer Center (ACC), which is the recently opened cancer hospital of KCCH, thereby recognizing the eighth CyberKnife system of the nation and the first in South Korea to include the CyberKnife with an in-built linear accelerator, which can offer doses of 1,000MU (monitor unit) per minute, thereby significantly enhancing the ability of the robotic system.

Dr. Kwang Mo Yang, Chief of Cancer Research Division and Radiation Oncologist at ACC has stated that the CyberKnife radiosurgery system will help them to widen their alternate therapy options to cancer patients who cannot withstand conventional therapy methods, as well as, for those with deadly tumors. He added that with the procurement of the additional robot, ACC has been honored as 'The First Medical Hub of Asia’.

According to Cynthia Chan, Director of Marketing, Accuray APAC, CyberKnife robot is widely utilized by the Korean medical community and the second robot with the latest improvements that has been installed in ACC will not only improve patient outcomes but also help in the clinical improvement of robotic radio surgery and high precision radio therapy.
