RIC Researchers Develop Package-Handling Robot

Researchers at the Robotics Innovation Center (RIC) have developed a robot for handling packages by means of a Semantic Product Memory (SemProM) system.

Semantic Product Memory (SemProM) system

The SemProM robot can determine weight, contents and other information with the help of an included RFID chip. The robot is 175cm tall and each of its two arms features 7° of freedom. The robot can identify objects by means of built in stereo cameras. The camera included in its left wrist offers a magnified view to the robot while handling objects. Further, the robot includes grippers for managing tiny objects.
