It was reported that in the US, every year more than one fourth of a million men are affected by prostrate cancer. Currently deployed conventional methods of cancer treatment are highly invasive with deleterious side effects. CyberKnife therapy destroys the tumor by means of an accurate radiation without affecting the nearby tissues.

Mr. Lane Crosby, who recently underwent CyberKnife radiosurgery at CyberKnife Center of Palm Beach, expressed his pleasure over finding himself going out and playing golf after his cancer treatment.

CyberKnife features a small, weightless linear accelerator ascended on a robotic arm. It is highly adaptable in targeting the cancer cells and abrasions. CyberKnife incorporates an advanced image guidance technology that enables effective monitoring of the cancer patient and also in targeting the exact location of the tumor during the treatment for ensuring sub millimeter precision.

This robot can destroy cancer cells of even intricate body parts which cannot be accessed by other stereotactic surgical methods. CyberKnife along with its active tracking software has been certified by FDA for treating fatal tumors by radiosurgical method.
