General Motors Donates Two Heavy-Duty Fanuc Industrial Robots to RIT Lab

General Motors donated two heavy-duty industrial robots to Rochester Institute of Technology to be installed in the Materials Laboratory located in RIT’s College of Applied Science Technology. The Fanuc R2000iA/210F robots are used in contemporary manufacturing processes and had been used in two of GM’s plants to build its Chevy Cruze automobiles as well as the larger Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon and Escalade luxury and utility vehicles.

Windbot Robotic Probe Could Stay Aloft in Planet's Atmosphere Without Wings

Among designers of robotic probes to explore the planets, there is certainly no shortage of clever ideas. There are concepts for robots that are propelled by waves in the sea. There are ideas for tumbleweed bots driven by wind, rolling across Antarctica or Mars. Recently a team of engineers at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, wondered if a probe could be buoyant in the clouds of Earth or a distant gas giant planet, like Jupiter.

NASA and SVC-AUVSI to Cosponsor UAS Traffic Management Convention 2015

NASA and the Silicon Valley Chapter of the Association of Unmanned Vehicle Systems International will cosponsor the 2015 Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Traffic Management Convention: A New Era in Aviation. The event will be held Tuesday, July 28 through Thursday, July 30, at NASA’s Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California.

Final Phase of Adaptive Autonomous Ocean Sampling Network Management Systems Competition now Underway

The final phase of a competition to develop novel adaptive autonomous ocean sampling network (AAOSN) management systems for the National Oceanography Centre (NOC) is now underway. Two UK consortia will move forward to develop systems capable of coordinating a suite of marine autonomous vehicles gathering data from the ocean over periods of months, and tracking and sampling dynamic features.
