FAA Grants Sanborn Section 333 Exemption to Commercially Operate UAS Flights

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted The Sanborn Map Company, Inc. (Sanborn) approval to commercially operate an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) under the agency's Section 333 Exemption. The exemption permits Sanborn to offer UAS-based services to its customers immediately.

Robotic Chemical-Synthesizing Machines Assemble Antimicrobial Compounds

There’s an urgent demand for new antimicrobial compounds that are effective against constantly emerging drug-resistant bacteria. Two robotic chemical-synthesizing machines, named Symphony X and Overture, have joined the search. Their specialty is creating custom nanoscale structures that mimic nature’s proven designs. Baxter International Inc. today presented data showing how innovative dialysis systems with new remote connectivity may improve patient access to home therapy. The data, presented at the 52nd Congress of the European Renal Association and European Dialysis and Transplant Association (ERA-EDTA), includes the perceptions of more than 500 healthcare providers and patients regarding the benefits associated with advanced automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) cyclers with remote monitoring capabilities of home patients (Abstract # FP586), and several abstracts supporting cost-effectiveness and utility of High Dose Hemodialysis (HD).
