Israeli Medical Centers Adopt Cutting Edge Treatment Options for Cancer

Professor Avraham Katan, Chief of the Oncology Department at the Rambam Medical Center, has stated that medical centers in Israel are adopting innovative treatment options for cancer.

He has mentioned that the hospitals include highly proficient medical professionals to offer world class cancer therapy. He added that their nation is on the threshold of a new medical revolution focusing on molecular and genetic methods of treatment.

‘SMART Surgery’ robotic prostatectomy is one of the latest treatment methods for prostate cancer. Dr. David Samadi, the Vice Chair of Urology and Chief of Robotics and Minimally Invasive Surgery at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York, launched this surgical system at Rambam Medical Center in Israel.

According to statistics provided by the American Cancer Society, globally 15% of men suffer from prostate cancer and one among 35 die from this deadly disease. Yet, if diagnosed at an initial stage, the five-year survival rate is 95%. Sophisticated treatment methods like the robotic prostate removal procedure adopt minimally invasive methods to ensure improved quality of life of survivors.

Professor Avraham Katan has partnered with Dr. Jacob Ramon of Tel HaShomer Medical Center and Dr. Jack Baniel of Rabin Medical Center to provide guidelines regarding SMART Surgery to Israeli surgeons.

Several medical centers of Israel including both private and public medical centers feature Oncology department and most of them offer specialized treatment methods for cancer. Most of these hospitals are located in the central region of Israel.
