The winning team, “Raiders” received the award at the For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Robotics Championships. The event took place in St. Louis, Missouri from April 28 to30.

The Raiders team was selected from a total of 350 teams for this award. The team designed and produced five water filtration systems that supplied 40,000 liters of potable water to five different communities in Haiti. The robotic team from Patchogue-Medford won the Chairman’s Award at the Long Island FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) held on March 26.

According to the Acting President, SBPLI, Scott Schuler, though the FIRST Robotics Program is regarded as a stimulating robotics competition, it is about motivating the students to become future technology leaders.
