A student team led by teacher Gregory Darin from the Oxford High School participated in the Connecticut CTEA State VEX Robotic championship at Central Connecticut State University.
The event was supported by the College of Technology Next Generation Manufacturing Center, Connecticut Technology Education Association and the CCSU School of Engineering and Technology. The championship was held at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Florida.
The students who participated from Oxford High School were Aaron Bullivant, Daniel Smith, Brian Westgate, Kyle Cheh and Charles Yetman. Oxford High School competed against teams from Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. The VEX program is part of Connecticut’s efforts towards increasing the opportunities in Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education. The VEX program not only encourages competition but also builds curriculum-based robotics. VEX provides a platform for getting exposure to the STEM concepts and the applications.
