Robotic Systems from Mazor Robotics Achieve Milestone of 15,000 Spine Surgeries

The surgical robots developed at Mazor Robotics have assisted more than 15,000 spinal surgeries across the world so far. These robots help in guiding the surgeon during spine implants. Mazor enjoys the unique distinction of developing robotic systems that help in spinal surgeries.

Renaissance Robotic System

A clinical report published recently states that the robotic technology from Mazor greatly helps in enhancing the accuracy and precision of spinal implants with a track record of minimum cases of misplaced screws or neurological deficits. From the point of view of a patient, robotic systems greatly help in reducing the complications and revisions that are often associated with spinal surgeries. A surgical team that includes a skilled surgeon assisted by the Mazor robotic system is bound to perform successful spinal implants with a minimum margin of error.

The first robotic system developed by Mazor was the SpineAssist, Renaissance was introduced later. The Renaissance is an FDA approved system that comes with the CE mark. With the help of Renaissance, surgeons are able to conduct critical spinal surgeries with increased accuracy and less exposure to radiation. The robotic system is especially useful in performing scoliosis, correcting spinal deformities and minimally invasive surgeries. Some successful spine surgeons have given encouraging feedback for the robotic systems from Mazor Robotics. They claim that in their experience with using the robots, they have experienced lesser exposure to radiation and are able to perform the surgeries much faster with greater accuracy. Some surgeons have pointed out to improvement in the patient care with robotic aid, which eases out the pressure on surgeons.
