Aldebaran Robotics Introduces Fully Programmable NAO Humanoid Robot

Aldebaran Robotics introduces the next generation of the Humanoid Robot, NAO Next Gen. The NAO Robot is fully programmable and has a wide range of applications in various fields. The NAO Robot can be used by organisations that care for autistic children and those who are losing their ability to work autonomously.

NAO Robotics

Aldebaran has sold as many as 2000 robots so far across the world. The latest version of the NAO robot is a completely programmable humanoid robot that can be used in schools, research institutes and as teaching aids.

The NAO Robot is the result of six years of research and interaction with researchers and users in streamlining the product. The latest version of the NAO provides higher level of interaction and better accuracy and stability. A significant addition to its design is the new on-board computer which has a powerful 1.6 GHz Intel atom processor and the processor provides the robot the capabilities of performing multi-tasking calculations. The robot is equipped with two HD cameras attached to a field-programmable array (FPGA). This arrangement allows reception of two video streams at the same time and provides better face-and-object recognition even under poorly lit environments. The NAO robot comes with an in-built vocal-recognition program called Nuance, which comes with word-spotting abilities. The chairman of Aldebaran explained that they have plans of enhancing the robot with software functionalities such as smart torque control, better walking abilities and collision prevention mechanisms.
