Evana Automation Specialists, a subsidiary of Phillips Service Industries (PSI) and leading Systems Integrator and builder of custom, automated assembly and test systems, recently integrated eight Motoman robots into a new powder coating line for a leading commercial wheel manufacturer. Evana provided bases, guarding and end-of-arm tools for the customer-supplied robots, along with programming and control panels to communicate with the finishing line.
Evana worked with the finishing equipment supplier, powder conveyor supplier, powder equipment supplier, flatbelt conveyor supplier, and the customer to successfully complete this project. The pick-and-place robots transfer wheels from one moving overhead monorail conveyor to another, as well as transport wheels from an overhead monorail conveyor to a fixture-indexing spindle conveyor during the preheat and coating processes. Other robots are used to unload wheels from the spindle conveyor to two flatbelt conveyors.
