KLAS Awards Top Ranking to ARxIUM’s RIVA Fully Automated IV Compounding System

For the third year in a row, RIVA, the fully automated IV compounding system developed by ARxIUM, has been recognized as category leader in “Pharmacy Automation: IV Robots” by independent healthcare research firm KLAS. The top ranking was announced in its “2015 Best in KLAS: Medical Equipment & Infrastructure” report.

RIVA’s overall score of 87.1 was the highest for IV robots evaluated and ranked more than 20 percent higher than its closest competitor. RIVA is engineered with multiple safety technologies and prepares IV medications in an aseptic ISO Class 5 environment with laminar airflow. RIVA units have been installed worldwide and have cumulatively produced millions of IV doses safely and accurately.

Also in the report, ARxIUM’s FastPak, a solid oral medication pouch packaging system, was selected as category leader in “Pharmacy Automation: High-Volume Unit Dose Packaging.” FastPak topped several competing packaging systems with a score of 78.4. FastPak offers unparalleled versatility and modular configuration, which provides limitless formulary capabilities and complete automation of oral solid medications.

“The latest KLAS rankings prove that ARxIUM is developing and providing our retail, long-term care and hospital pharmacy customers with unmatched automated technology that is meeting or exceeding expectations,” said Dr. Niels Erik Hansen, president and CEO of ARxIUM. “Our automated systems and consulting capabilities help ensure patient safety, increase productivity and generate substantial savings for pharmacists across the world.”

To compile its annual ranking of medical equipment, KLAS collects data from thousands of healthcare providers and administrators across the U.S. and Canada through surveys and in-depth interviews. The 2015 Best in KLAS report ranks pharmacy and medical products in 21 different market segments.

This is the fifth time in four years that RIVA has been recognized by KLAS. In the 2013 and 2014 Best in KLAS reports, RIVA was selected as category leader for IV robots in pharmacy automation. RIVA was also ranked highest in overall performance and customer satisfaction in a 2014 KLAS study about IV robots and workflow management systems. In an earlier KLAS study about pharmacy automation, the research firm recognized RIVA for having needed functionality, being ready for widespread industry use and customers that would buy it again.

ARxIUM will be exhibiting (booth 2213) its award-winning technology and solutions, such as RIVA and FastPak, at the 2015 ASHP Clinical Midyear Meeting in New Orleans from December 7 to 10. Attendees will have the opportunity to see live product demonstrations and speak with the company leadership team and subject matter experts.
