iPATROL Launches Riley Camera Robot to Alert Homeowners

PATROL Inc. announces the U.S. launch of Riley, a roving night-vision-enabled, high-definition camera robot that alerts homeowners when motion is detected. The July 2016 launch at select retail stores and online follows successful crowdfunding on Indiegogo that surpassed its goal by over 300 percent.

Riley is operated through an app for WiFi-enabled iOS or Android devices. The compact robot senses motion, notifying users and saving high-definition video to be reviewed anywhere in the world. Owners can direct Riley remotely to investigate and then capture additional information. With the integrated microphone and speaker, owners can alert intruders that the police have been called.

In addition to a security function, Riley can also serve as a pet companion or home-monitoring tool; its two-way audio allows for direct communication anytime, enabling owners to interact with pets or family members while they are out.

“Riley is a smart and mobile companion that monitors your home with real-time video,” said iPATROL’s Founder Rodney Lo. “Unlike most home-security devices, Riley is mobile and can travel on most any surface without getting stuck, thanks to its rugged tank treads.”

Riley can self-dock to recharge when its battery is running low. The docking station doubles as a rotatable perch that owners can control remotely. If a pet or child knocks it over, Riley can stand up and continue moving along through a one-touch click on the app.

Riley is a second-generation product that has been re-engineered to improve key features. The newer model has a more powerful camera (5 megapixels versus 3) and a longer battery life between charges. The updated Riley also has infrared night vision.

“Riley is not just a home-monitoring tool,” continued Lo. “Riley helps you feel like you’re in two places at once.”

Interested consumers can purchase Riley in select retail stores (see list) and online through Amazon.com or the company’s website.
