Omron Scientific to Serve as Primary Robotics Safety Provider in RTP Project

Omron Scientific Technologies has collaborated with Robotics Technology Park (RTP) and will act as the primary robotics safety supplier for the RTP project.

RTP project consists of three phases and will include distinct training centers focused on a particular industrial requirement. The facilities will offer college-level training programs on robotics safety as well as other aspects of robotic technology.

First phase of the project is Robotic Maintenance Training Center, which was completed in September 2010. The 52,000-square-foot building conducts industry training program and trains technical staff on robotic machinery.

The project’s second phase will be Advanced Technology Research and Development Center. It is expected to be inaugurated by spring of 2011. The 30,000–square-foot building will include a test facility for companies providing robotics systems. The test facility will also be utilized by the U.S. Army Missile Command and NASA for R&D for testing latest robotics systems deployed for military and space study projects.

The final phase of the RTP project will be the Integration and Entrepreneurial Center. It will be a cooperative merging of technology concerning industry and higher education. This center will enable companies to develop robots for upcoming industries. Newly opened plants can establish their production lines to combine software with machinery and test systems. Their maintenance and production employees can also be trained in the new facility.
