The eighth annual National Robotics Week, which takes place April 8-16, is calling for event submissions from robot-enthusiasts across all 50 United States. Events can include robotics competitions, expos, parties, meetups, workshops, classes, camps, and open houses or tours of companies and universities. National Robotics Week was established by Congress and iRobot in 2010 to raise awareness about the importance of STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), and the role these subjects play in shaping the future of education, industry and the U.S. economy. Last year, there were more than 300 registered events nationwide.
"Robotics is one of the most fast-paced and exciting fields that exists today," said Colin Angle, chairman and CEO of iRobot. "To that end, National Robotics Week is designed to inspire students of all ages to pursue STEM careers, celebrate the exciting world of robotics and educate the public on how robots can positively impact society."
Those interested in hosting an event can download helpful resources from the National Robotics Week website, including a template press release, National Robotics Week logo, 2017 Trading Cards, and an activity book for elementary school teachers, among other helpful items. Official #RoboWeek posters are also available upon request.
