Lawrence Technological University Forms Autonomous Vehicles and Robotic Systems Student Committee

Michigan’s first ‘Autonomous Vehicles and Robotic Systems Student Committee’ has been created by Lawrence Technological University. The new committee has been formed as part of the Great Lakes Chapter of the Association of Unmanned Vehicle Systems International.

The committee was jointly sponsored by National Instruments. It is likely to develop cooperation between students of Lawrence Tech and robotics and automotive firms. The students of this committee can focus on academic research initiatives that are closely related to the ongoing research activities at firms like KUKA Industrial Robots, which is closely associated with the committee.

The committee was formed in Lawrence Tech's mechatronics master's degree program. The program is focused on self-guided and traditional ground vehicles as well as robotic systems engineering.

Vladimir Vantsevich, Faculty Advisor of the Committee and a Professor at Lawrence Tech, has stated that the new committee offers the students total exposure to the outer world, enabling them to communicate with firms for better placement.

It is expected that such jobs will enable future innovations in several areas including cars, machines, mining equipment and robotics.
