Walmart Awards UT Arlington Innovation Grant to Build Robotic Small Motor System

UT Arlington has received a $229,214 grant from the Walmart Foundation to build a robotic small motors assembly and testing system that would cut the manufacturing costs of goods, allowing those goods to be produced in the United States that were formerly built overseas.

Raytheon Awarded $130 Million Contract to Provide All Electronic Tolling System for Massachusetts

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation awarded Raytheon Company a $130 million contract for an All Electronic Tolling System (AETS). Raytheon and a team of Massachusetts-based companies will convert and replace all manual cash and electronic toll collection systems with an advanced system that will automatically toll vehicles as they travel under a gantry similar to an overhead sign. Drivers will be able to pass through the toll station at highway speeds without the need to slow down or stop.

Fully Automated Parking and Charging System for Electric Cars at Public Car Parks

Imagine you are rushing to catch a train but must first park your electric car inside the station garage. You lose precious time searching for a space, ideally one where you can charge your vehicle, which might cause you to miss the train. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could just drop off the car in front of the station and let it do the rest? Soon it will be possible, thanks to V-CHARGE, an EU ICT research project. Successful tests took place at Stuttgart airport in April 2014.

It reduces the time lost turning at the end of the row by enabling the vehicle to make a tighter turn and approach the next line, or crop row, 50 percent faster.
