RADA to Upgrade and Produce UAV Avionics Unit for Major Israeli Defense Contractor

RADA Electronic Industries of Netanya, Israel announced today that it was awarded a contract from a leading Israeli defense contractor to upgrade a previously designed UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) avionics unit and to supply additional production units. The total order value is $1.5 million with deliveries expected during the next 24 months.

Aerojet Rocketdyne's XR-5A Hall Thruster Completes Testing on Unmanned X-37 Space Plane

Aerojet Rocketdyne's improved XR-5 Hall Thruster (designated XR-5A) has successfully completed initial on-orbit validation testing on the unmanned X-37 space plane, which is presently on its fourth mission in space. The Air Force Research Laboratory, Space and Missile Systems Center, and Rapid Capabilities Office collaborated to host the XR-5A Hall Thruster experiment on Orbital Test Vehicle mission 4.

New Mexico State University Selected for First Reclamation Dam Inspection using UAS

The Bureau of Reclamation has selected New Mexico State University to be the lead subject matter expert to perform the first Reclamation dam inspection using an unmanned aircraft system. This aeronautical research project will occur at Elephant Butte Dam in New Mexico. Reclamation is providing New Mexico State $35,000 to assist in the project.
