Soft Robotics Journal Features Untethered, Jumping, Roly-Poly Robot

A novel, fully untethered soft robot capable of repeated jumping is able to cover half a meter in a single hop-and-roll motion. The innovative design of this combustion-powered robot, based on a roly-poly toy, and how it returns to an upright position after each jump are described in a fascinating study published in Soft Robotics, a peer-reviewed journal from Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishers. This approval reflects the unit's ability to perform at the highest standards in cleanliness currently in place for the sterile processing industry. Few companies have received this special validation for reprocessing robotic surgical instruments for re-use.

Hudson Robotics and GeneThera Sign Worldwide Exclusive Collaboration Agreement

GeneThera Inc. and Hudson Robotics Inc. announced today that they have entered into a worldwide exclusive collaboration agreement to develop the next generation of Integrated Automated Robotic Systems (IARS) molecular diagnostic platform for animal testing of Tuberculosis and Paratuberculosis. Global Hawk Program Brings Down Cost per Flight Hour of HALE Autonomous Unmanned Aircraft System

The U.S. Air Force RQ-4 Global Hawk high-altitude, long-endurance (HALE) autonomous unmanned aircraft system (UAS) had another remarkable year in 2014, with a significant decrease in cost per flight hour coupled with a sharp increase in flight hours. The Global Hawk program has brought the system's cost per flight hour down to the point of being half the cost of the manned alternative. The aircraft also saw close to a 40 percent increase in flight hours from 2013 to 2014.
