Mazor Robotics Closes Public Offering of American Depositary Shares

Mazor Robotics Ltd., (the “Company”) the developer of Renaissance™, an innovative surgical guidance system and its complementary products, announced today the closing of its previously announced public offering of 2,760,000 American Depositary Shares (“ADSs”), including ADSs issued pursuant to the underwriters option to purchase additional shares, at a price of $17.00 per ADS, bringing total gross proceeds from the offering to $46,920,000, before deducting underwriting discounts and commissions and other offering expenses payable by the Company.

Robotic-Assisted Lung Surgery Associated With Significantly Lower Death Rates

A new study comparing open surgery, video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS), and robotic-assisted surgery to remove diseased lung tissue found that robotic-assisted surgery is associated with significantly lower death rates, lower overall complication rates, and shorter hospital stays compared with open surgery. Researchers also concluded that robotic-assisted surgery is an appropriate alternative to VATS.

New Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines Launched at Georgia Tech

The Georgia Institute of Technology has announced the launch of its Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines (IRIM), the newest of Georgia Tech’s ten Interdisciplinary Research Institutes (IRIs). IRIM brings together robotics researchers from across campus—spanning colleges, departments and individual labs—to support and connect research initiatives, enhance educational programs and foster advances for the National Robotics Initiative (NRI), first announced by President Obama in 2011, and officially established in 2012.
