USAF Places $71 Million Undefinitized Contract Award for Northrop Grumman’s Global Hawk Unmanned Aircraft System

Northrop Grumman recently received an undefinitized contract award valued at more than $71 million for its Global Hawk unmanned aircraft system from the U.S. Air Force. Issued by the Global Hawk Systems Program Office at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, the award is an add-on to a previous Lot 10 contract for block load and production acceptance infrastructure.

Researchers Determine Software Bugs in Surgical Robots Using Theorem-Proving Techniques

Surgical robots could make some types of surgery safer and more effective, but proving that the software controlling these machines works as intended is problematic. Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University and the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory have demonstrated that methods for reliably detecting software bugs and ultimately verifying software safety can be applied successfully to this breed of robot.
