FAA Approves Puma’s Hand-Launched Unmanned Aircraft System for Commercial Missions

AeroVironment, Inc. today announced that on July 19, 2013 it received a “Restricted Category” rating for its Puma AE™ small unmanned aircraft system from the Federal Aviation Administration. The first-of-its-kind certificate permits operators to fly Puma for commercial missions, such as oil spill monitoring and ocean surveys, in the North Slope region of the Arctic.

Molecular Robots May Help Develop More Targeted Drugs

Many drugs such as agents for cancer or autoimmune diseases have nasty side effects because while they kill disease-causing cells, they also affect healthy cells. Now a new study has demonstrated a technique for developing more targeted drugs, by using molecular “robots” to hone in on more specific populations of cells.

European Gravimetric Drug Vial Database for Sterile Compounding Robots Published by Health Robotics

Health Robotics recently released to the pharmacy community at large, its European Database1 of 572 supported and “Live” drug vials for Automated Sterile Compounding, corresponding to 213 active pharmaceutical ingredients [170 for chemotherapy, 35 non-hazardous, and 8 mAbs], including supported drug brands, available vial sizes, and drug vial concentrations from 102 drug manufacturers.
