Researchers Develop Robotic System to Dress Elderly and Physically Disabled People

The Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), a national corporation university in Japan, has developed the world’s first robotic system that can learn to dress the physically challenged as well as aged persons. By using the idea of skills transfer to a robot from a human caregiver, the robot receives reinforcement learning in minutes and adapts to the individual shape and size of the person being clothed.

NASA to Launch Sophisticated Mobile Robotic Laboratory for Mars Mission

A highly sophisticated mobile robotic laboratory of NASA is in its final phase of preparation and will be launched on November 25 from Florida’s Space Coast. The Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) mission will carry the space exploration vehicle, Curiosity, which has advanced scientific capabilities when compared to any rover sent to another planet. Curiosity is presently awaiting launch atop the Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

General Dynamics Wins Navy Contract for Design of Unmanned Underwater Mine Vehicle

General Dynamics has won a design and development contract from the US Navy for the Surface Mine Countermeasure Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (SMCM UUV) worth $ 87 million. During the initial phase, the SMCM UUV will be part of the Littoral Combat Ship Mine Warfare.
